One of the measures taken by the Council and West Yorkshire Police to help penalise dangerous and anti-social use of vehicles is called a ‘Public Space Protection Order’ (PSPO). The PSPO ensures people who are driving dangerously or with no concern for the safety of others can be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £100.

It includes dangerous overtaking, queue pushing and sexual harrassment that the police are sometimes unable to otherwise Prosecute but that really frighten or frustrate others - and project a really poor image of the district.

We believe that if people are penalised for these offences then it will help improve the wider driving problem. To obtain the PSPO we need to be able to show that our communities support it.
